WELCOME TO ZION!

Welcome to the webpage of Zion Lutheran Church, East Petersburg!

Zion Lutheran Church is a warm, hospitable congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We have a membership of about 400, with ministries for people of all ages. By clicking unto the menu of this webpage, you can familiarize yourself with worship information, Christian educational programs, and outreach ministries to which Zion is committed.

We feel that in addition to our traditional worship here, there are ministries for persons with diverse interests and talents, including, but not limited to, Prayer Shawl ministry, Quilters, Zion's Angels, a Young Adult group, an older singles group, the Young-at-Hearts (seniors 60 and over), an active Youth Group, a widow and widowers group, an Evangelism ministry, choir, and Christian education for people of all ages.

One of the comments about Zion of which we are most pleased is that visitors have mentioned our being a most welcoming congregation, and that they and their children feel very comfortable worshipping with us and sharing in our Sunday School classes.

As you browse through our webpage, please know that we would be delighted to have you worship with us anytime! If you have any questions or desire additional information about Zion Lutheran Church, please do not hesitate to call the church office (717) 569-1359 and ask to speak to Pastor Ruth or a lay leader who can provide in-depth information about one or more of the ministries here.

Thank you for checking our website, and we pray for the opportunity to meet you in person.

Blessings,

Pastor Mary-Margaret Ruth

Pastor Dan Long

For more than 160 years, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church has been celebrating and sharing the Love of God with the people of Lancaster County. We are located in East Petersburg, but our members come from throughout the county to join together for worship, for study and for service in the name of Christ.

We are single and married, men and women, young and old, people of diverse interest and gifts who believe that as members of a congragtion of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America it is our privilige, our responsibility and our joy to be actively involved in caring for one another and for the communities we serve so that all of God’s people have opportunity to grow in faith and in love for God and the neighbor.

We believe that people who are hungry need a meal, so there is a dinner served for those in need every Monday evenng at our church and every Sunday we preach the Gospel which is Good News for those who thirst for righteousness. We believe that God really did love the world, so we are in partnership with the worldwide ministry of the church and in a special relationship with Forest Lutheran congregation in The Konde Diocese of Tanzania. We believe that God has given us all a heart and a mind ready and open to receive the call of God, so we provide Christian Education and Spiritual Growth opportunities for everybody from our youth to our seniors. We believe that all of us are blessed in order to be a blessing, so we are involved in community outreach and service opportunties where our gifts can be shared with those in need.

We welcome all who would join us for Sunday worship or for any of the program activities of the church. Together, we join with all the other sisters and brothers in Christ to sow the seeds of faith, hope and love that will produce a harvest of peace and justice here in Lancaster County, throughout our nation and for the global community.

God’s Grace and Peace be with you,

Rev. Daniel M. Long
